प्रज्ञानम् ब्रह्म | PRAJÑĀNAM BRAHMA

प्रज्ञानम् ब्रह्म का शाब्दिक अर्थ है – ज्ञान ही ब्रह्म है। चारों वेदों में एक एक महावाक्य का वर्णन है। प्रज्ञानम् ब्रह्म ऋग्वेद के ऐतरेय उपनिषद् का महावाक्य है।

The literal meaning of Prajñānam Brahma is – Knowledge is Brahma. Each of the four Vedas describes a Mahāvākya. Prajñānam Brahma is the Mahāvākya of the Aitareya Upanishad of the Rigveda.

अगर इस महावाक्य को संधि विच्छेद कर के देखें तो इसके अनेक भावार्थ प्रकट होते हैं।
If we see this Mahāvākya by splitting the words, then there are many manifestations of it.

प्रज्ञान -> प्र + ज्ञान

• प्र – सर्वोच्च (Higher / Supreme )
• ज्ञान – विद्या / बोध / सूचना / बुद्धि (Knowledge / Consciousness )

प्रज्ञानम् से तात्पर्य है – सर्वोच्च ज्ञान – परम सत्य को जान लेना।
The meaning of Prajñānam is Supreme Knowledge or Supreme Consciousness.

ब्रह्म

वेद परम्परा के अनुसार, ब्रह्म इस सारे विश्व का परम सत्य है और जगत का सार है। यह वो ऊर्जा है जिसके कारण यह सम्पूर्ण विश्व की उत्पत्ति होती है, यही इस विश्व का कारण है। वो निराकार, अनन्त, नित्य और शाश्वत है। प्रायः मनुष्य ब्रह्म को ईश्वर समझ लेता है और अपनी परिकल्पना से उसको आकार दे देता है।

According to the Veda tradition, Brahma is the absolute truth of this whole world and the essence of the world. That is the energy due to which this entire world is created, That is the reason of this world. That is Formless, Infinite, Eternal and Perpetual. Often, man considers Brahma as God and gives shape to it through his vision.

व्याख्या | Interpretation

इस महावाक्य की अनेक व्याखाएँ हो सकती है। जब मनुष्य सर्वोच्च ज्ञान को प्राप्त कर लेता है, तब वो इस विश्व के उत्पत्ति के कारण को जान लेता है। इसकी एक व्याख्या ये भी हो सकती है की वो सर्वोच्च ज्ञान स्वरूप ब्रह्म जानने योग्य है। वो हर जगह समाया हुआ है। सत्य ही सर्वोच्च ज्ञान और सर्वोच्च ज्ञान ही सत्य है।

This Mahāvākya can be interpreted in number of ways. When a person attains supreme knowledge, then he knows the reason of origin of this world. An interpretation of this can also be that Brahma is capable of knowing the highest form of knowledge. That is ingrained everywhere. The ultimate reality is Consciousness and Consciousness is the final truth.
